At Riversmead Farm, we do things with care. Just like we have since 1944.
For three generations, we’ve raised chickens with the same dedication and hands-on know-how we started with: clean, natural feed we mill ourselves, plenty of purified water, fresh moving air and room for our birds to grow well.
Everything we do – from how we farm to how our products reach your table – comes back to one belief: anything worth doing is worth doing right. Because quality shouldn’t be complicated, and trust should be earned daily.

RAISED THE RIGHT WAY
Doing things right means looking after more than our chickens – it means caring for the land and resources that make our farm possible. From the way we treat water to the feed we mill ourselves, our sustainability practices are rooted in simple, good-sense farming.
For us, that begins with what goes into our chickens’ diet. It’s why we built our own mill and source grain directly from local farmers that we know by name. By milling natural, vegetarian feed from grains sourced from farms we trust, we’re able to choose every ingredient with intention. It keeps our farming honest, supports local producers and ensures our chickens grow well on a diet as clean as the land they’re raised on.
WATER
We recycle and naturally treat water with anaerobic ponds, allowing it to be safely returned to use on the farm.
COMPOSTING
All biodegradable waste is carefully turned and converted onsite into nutrient-rich compost to help build healthier soils.
SOLAR
Solar panels in high-use areas provide clean, reliable energy that keeps the farm running sustainably.

That’s why our birds are raised with care and without routine medication. Treatment is given only when absolutely necessary, and strict withdrawal protocols ensure our chicken reaches the market completely medication-free – safe, wholesome and trusted by families across KZN.
